What makes our head spa

What makes us different · the spaceA head spa isn't a treatment you add to a salon — it's the reason you build the room in the first place. We designed ours around the ritual. Everything else followed from that.
A head spa isn't a treatment you add to a salon — it's the reason you build the treatment suite in the first place. We designed ours around the ritual. Everything else followed from that.
The space. Two private treatment suites inside a restored St. Pete building. Stone and beige, cream walls, natural light, and greenery — an atmosphere that does half the work before we touch your scalp. One suite is our duo suite, built side-by-side for two. The other is for solo guests who want the room to themselves. Sometimes we have only two booked and we can let each client have their own private suite if they wish. This isn't a setting curated from IKEA or home goods — every detail was chosen by Larae personally, who spared no expense on the immersive, luxury-rich environment.
The Japanese ritual, our way. The Bronze Lily is built around the traditional Japanese head spa ritual — the same ritual our competitors center on. We do it too. The difference is the setting and the depth: a fully immersive treatment suite, imported Japanese head spa equipment, and a clinical approach to addressing real scalp conditions inside a luxury experience. Same craft. Higher floor.
The nervous system reset. Beyond the scalp, this is the treatment we lean on to reset the nervous system. Slow cranial work, water halo therapy, and pressure-point sequences are designed to bring the body out of stress and into rest. (Our Root Room foot spa is the other ritual built for this purpose — the two pair beautifully.)
The products. European, biodynamic, vegan hair care — selected for your scalp's needs. Nothing generic, nothing chemical-first. Every treatment opens with a Tricho-Analyzer reading at 50x magnification so your products are chosen, not guessed.
The therapist. Our therapists train continuously in scalp condition diagnosis, product chemistry, and cranial massage technique. Many came from massage therapy backgrounds with years in the field. The knowledge shows up in the small decisions — temperature, pressure, pace, the order of steps.
The tools. Our staff use a curated set of professional tools that aid in creating sensations and depth you can't replicate with hands alone — weighted crystal eye masks for energy alignment, various professional combs and head-spa instruments, hot towels misted with pure essential oils, steam for cleansing and deeper product absorption. The tools are part of why a Bronze Lily head spa feels different in your body, not just different on your scalp.
The touch. Massage-heavy, slow, and deliberate. Scalp, neck, shoulders, hands, arms — extended as your therapist's expertise allows. The treatment is quiet by design. You leave softer than you arrived.

Two private treatment suites. One duo suite built for two — side-by-side tables and water halo basins in the same room. One for solo guests who want the space to themselves.
We can service up to 3 clients at the same time across both suites. For groups of 4 or more, we schedule back-to-back with advance notice.
While one of your group is in treatment, the rest can enjoy other services on our menu — facials, LED light therapy, teeth whitening, spray tans, lash extensions, permanent jewelry — or add a Root Room herbal foot soak with ceremonial tea as a waiting option. Or simply relax in our lobby with a chaise lounge.

Tricho-Analyzer to
Tricho-Analyzer · 50x magnification scalp detailTricho-Analyzer Scalp Diagnostic
Every full head spa begins with precision. Our clinical-grade Tricho-Analyzer creates a detailed map of your scalp health — measuring hydration, oil balance, follicle health, and circulation at 50x magnification. You see exactly what your scalp needs before we begin. Then, after your treatment, we compare the before-and-after so you understand the transformation that just happened. This isn't guesswork. This is scalp science.
Water halo therapy · pressure-point ritualWater Halo Therapy & Pressure Work
The multi-step cleanse: oil, foam, cream, mask, rinse — each applied with intention. Then the water halo therapy — our signature water ring treatment — at the perfect temperature, followed by lymphatic pressure-point work across the scalp, neck, and shoulders. Not a shampoo massage. A reset.
Cranial massage · slow deliberate pressureCranial Massage Sequences
Extended cranial massage from the base of the skull through the temples and over the crown — slow, deliberate, paced to your nervous system. We layer in neck and shoulder pressure work as time allows, and bring in professional combs and head-spa tools for sensations you can't get from hands alone. This is the part most clients fall asleep during.

A weighted crystal eye mask for energy alignment. Hot towels misted with pure essential oils. Steam for cleansing and deeper product absorption. Aromatherapy and a quiet soundscape of nature or spa-trance. Adjustable bed warmers and plush blankets. The treatment is engineered for every sense. When your eyes close, the room takes over.

Why we exist
Why Larae's healing
Before Head Spa existed at The Bronze Lily, Larae was the one sitting in the chair with a scalp condition and scalp needs.
A reaction to a prescribed topical steroid left her navigating a long skin-and-scalp healing journey. She went deep into the research — biodynamic hair care, clean products, gentle scalp therapy — and the treatments helped.
The problem was where she had to get them. Traditional hair salons. A standard shampoo bowl. Fluorescent light. The treatment worked, but the setting worked against it — clinical in the wrong way, uncomfortable in the literal way.
When the Japanese head spa movement started quietly arriving in the U.S., she knew immediately. She had the reason, the atmosphere instinct, and the extra space. She built the treatment suites around the ritual — not retrofitted a corner of a salon. Every detail, from the tables to the lighting to the products, comes from what she wished existed when she was the client.
And she didn't build it alone. Larae had spent years working with an educator who had been performing these treatments and working with scalp conditions and biodynamic products for nearly a decade. That relationship became the resource that established our protocols, treatment regimens, and the training every staff member moves through. To this day, when we bring on a new therapist, that same educator comes back in for education-updating sessions with our team. The standard is alive, not frozen.

Japanese Head Spa · Common Questions
Questions,
What's the best head spa in St. Petersburg, FL?
Tampa Bay's home of the Japanese head spa ritual — five tiers from a 30-minute reset to the 120-minute VIP Full Ritual, performed by an all-female team in fully private second-floor suites, solo or side-by-side. Every full service opens and closes with a Tricho-Analyzer scalp reading at 50x, shown to you on screen so you see the change the same day. We've cared for St. Pete for 14+ years at a 4.9 rating on 300+ Google reviews.
What is a Japanese head spa?
A Japanese head spa is a multi-step scalp-and-hair treatment combining clinical scalp analysis, targeted product application, halo hydrotherapy (warm water-ring cleansing), and extended scalp, neck, and shoulder massage. Originating in Tokyo salons, the treatment is designed to address scalp health — not just relaxation — and typically runs 60–90 minutes depending on the condition being addressed.
How much does a head spa cost in St. Petersburg, FL?
At The Bronze Lily, our head spa treatments range from $90 for a 30-minute Mini Lunch Break to $225 for our 120-minute VIP Full Ritual. The Signature Relax & Detox is $120 for 60 minutes, and our 75-minute condition-specific treatments (Dry, Oily, Sensitive) are $145. Our combo service — Relax & Detox Head & Body (scalp treatment + Sedona red mud body wrap) — is $295 for a two-hour experience, Thursdays and Fridays.
How often should I get a head spa?
For general scalp maintenance and relaxation, every 4–6 weeks works well. For clients addressing specific conditions — oily scalp, flaking, inflammation, or hair thinning — we often recommend a starting cadence of every 2–3 weeks for the first 4–6 treatments, then tapering to monthly or every 6 weeks as the scalp stabilizes. Your therapist will recommend a cadence after your first Tricho-Analyzer reading.
Is a head spa worth it?
Yes, if you're addressing a specific scalp concern — buildup, oil, dandruff, thinning, inflammation — or want a deeply restorative treatment that combines measurable scalp diagnostics with extended massage. Clients leave with a cleaner, healthier scalp and softer hair, plus the relaxation benefit. Regular sessions compound results. If you're purely seeking a 30-minute massage, a traditional massage service may be a better fit.
What should I expect at my first head spa?
Your first visit starts with a brief consultation and a Tricho-Analyzer scalp reading at 50x magnification — we look at scalp condition, follicles, and any buildup or inflammation. (The 30-minute Mini Lunch Break is the one service that skips the reading — it's too short to do it justice.) From there, we walk you through the treatment plan, settle you into your suite with a robe, and begin. Most first-timers are surprised by how slow and deliberate the treatment is. The opening cleanse alone can take 20 minutes and includes a full detoxification process — a micro-exfoliant scrub and a detoxifying shampoo to clear buildup before treatment. You'll then experience water halo hydrotherapy and multiple product applications — a targeted scalp treatment mask, a deep conditioning hair mask, and scalp serums calibrated to your Tricho-Analyzer reading — plus extended massage across scalp, neck, and shoulders. We close with a rough dry to 60–80%, a post-treatment scalp reading so you can see the change, and aftercare notes.
What is the Tricho-Analyzer?
The Tricho-Analyzer is a clinical-grade scalp camera that magnifies your scalp at 50x — close enough to see individual follicles, buildup, oil balance, hydration, and any inflammation. Every full head spa service (60 minutes and up) includes a reading before and after your treatment: the first calibrates your product mix to what your scalp actually needs, the second lets you see the change on screen the same day. Across repeat visits it's how we track your scalp's real progress — no guesswork, no generic routine. (The 30-minute Mini Lunch Break skips the reading — it's too short a window to do it justice.)
Do I need to wash my hair before a head spa?
No — we actually prefer you don't. Arriving with day-two or day-three hair helps us get a more accurate scalp analysis and makes our cleansing process more effective. Do brush your hair free of mats and tangles, and avoid heavy styling products (gel, hairspray) the day of your appointment so they don't interfere with the treatment.
What's the difference between a head spa and a regular hair treatment?
A traditional hair treatment — deep conditioner, gloss, bond builder — focuses on the hair shaft: smoothing, strengthening, adding shine to the strands you already have. A head spa focuses on the scalp: the skin, follicles, and ecosystem that produces your hair in the first place. Head spa treatments address buildup, oil regulation, inflammation, circulation, and follicle health. Long-term, healthier scalp equals healthier hair. The two are complementary — many clients do both.
What does a Bronze Lily head spa include?
Every Bronze Lily scalp ritual — from the 30-minute Mini Lunch Break to the VIP Full Ritual — includes the same core experience. Halo water therapy. Aromatherapy. Adjustable bed warmers and plush blankets on every treatment table. Hot towels misted with pure essential oils. A quiet environment to escape, rest, and recharge. A soundscape of nature or spa-trance. Steam for relaxation, detoxifying cleanse, and deeper product absorption. Black-out eye mask plus weighted crystal eye mask for energy alignment. Multiple professional combs and head-spa tools for varied massage techniques. Generous scalp massage for tension release and deep relaxation. Neck and shoulder massage to extend the relaxation arc. Rough dry (60–80%) or simple braid. Pre and post Tricho-Analyzer scalp analysis on all full head spa services (the 30-minute Mini is too short for readings). A knowledgeable scalp therapist trained to melt your stress with a tranquilizing touch.
Higher tiers add duration, condition-specific treatment masks and serums, and (at the VIP tier) the Hydro-Dhara warm botanical oil drip.
What products do you use during the treatment?
We use European, biodynamic, vegan hair care — free from sulfates, parabens, silicones, and harsh chemicals. Your therapist selects your product mix based on your Tricho-Analyzer reading: dry and flaky scalps get moisture-restoring blends, oily scalps get purifying and clarifying formulas, sensitive scalps get gentle soothing products, thinning hair gets growth-stimulating treatments. We're happy to name specific brands during your appointment.
What does the 6-step facial add-on include?
Our 6-Step Facial add-on ($70) is a fully customized add-on to any head spa, performed in the same suite right after the scalp work. The six steps are: (1) double-cleanse to remove product and surface buildup; (2) exfoliation calibrated to your skin condition (gentle enzymatic or mild acid); (3) extractions and decongestion where needed; (4) a treatment mask chosen for hydration, brightening, or calming; (5) targeted serums + LED or massage to drive ingredients deeper; (6) moisture + SPF finish. We use our ONmacabim professional line throughout. For the full standalone facial menu and product detail, see our facials page.
Can you service more than one person at the same time?
Yes. We have two private treatment suites: one built as a duo suite with side-by-side tables and sinks, one for solo guests. We can service up to 3 clients at the same time across both suites. For groups of 4+, we schedule back-to-back with advance notice.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment to avoid a fee. Groups of 3+ and holiday bookings may require up to a week's notice.
- Less than 24 hrs before: 50% of service cost
- Less than 4 hrs before or no call/no show: 100% of service cost
- Package cancellations less than 4 hrs before or no show: lose one session from your package
All bookings require a card on file. Our system sends multiple email and text reminders. Once you're inside the 24-hour window, the system won't allow self-cancellation — please call or text (727) 218-7045. Voicemail + text is best if we don't answer. Instagram, Facebook, and email messages are hard to track when we're fully booked and may not reach us in time.
Can I expect scalp or hair results after my head spa?
Yes. You'll leave with a noticeably cleaner, lighter scalp, softer hair, and a calmer nervous system. Our treatments detoxify the scalp — removing buildup, excess oil, and impurities — to create the foundation for stronger, healthier hair growth. On full head spa services we perform a pre- and post-treatment scalp analysis with our Tricho-Analyzer, so you can see the difference in cleanliness, hydration, and scalp condition during the same session. For long-term results, regular treatments paired with a customized at-home routine work best.
Can I book a head spa appointment with hair extensions?
Ideally, head spa works best between extension appointments — either after removal or a few days to weeks before replacement. That said, many clients have enjoyed our service with extensions in place. Our therapists are trained to use specific brushes and tools that are gentle on extensions.
Compatible: Sew-In, K-Tip, Micro-Link, Pre-Bonded Fusion
Not compatible: Tape-In — the oils and detox products in our ritual compromise tape adhesion, so we're unable to perform the treatment over tape-ins and will have to reschedule you. Please mention tape-ins when you book so we can save you the trip.
How long will I be in my head spa treatment?
Relax & Detox runs 60–75 minutes. Purifying, Soothing, Rebalancing, and Hair Growth Activation treatments run 90 minutes. Our VIP Full Ritual runs 120 minutes.
Inside that time: 5–10 minutes for pre-treatment scalp analysis and changing, 40–50 minutes of hands-on treatment, 5–15 minutes for post-analysis, rough drying, and checkout. Specialized treatments include extra time for custom product mixing and scalp mask setting. We schedule 15 minutes between appointments so the room is ready for you. This is a scalp-and-hair treatment that includes massage — not a massage service where the clock is only hands-on time.
Is a head spa just a scalp massage?
No. A head spa is a full scalp-and-hair treatment — scalp analysis, cleansing, and condition-specific products addressing issues like dandruff, oil, buildup, itchiness, and hair loss. Massage is woven throughout almost every step of product application, and depending on your therapist's training, may extend to neck, shoulders, hands, and arms. Each therapist brings their own routine; the shared goals are scalp health, hair hydration, and deep relaxation.
How should I prepare for my head spa appointment?
Arrive with brushed hair, free from mats and tangles — it helps us focus on your scalp instead of detangling. We don't build detangling time into appointments, so time spent working through knots comes out of your treatment time. Avoid heavy styling products (gel, hairspray) the day of your appointment. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in without feeling rushed. Wear comfortable clothes you'll want to put back on — we provide cozy robes so no oils or products touch your clothing. Share any concerns with your specialist so they can tailor the treatment. And: come ready to unwind.
Will I leave with wet hair?
Not dripping wet, but not fully dry. We rough-dry your scalp to 60–80% dry so we can complete an accurate post-treatment analysis, then rough-dry the lengths when time allows. Some therapists also offer braiding or a leave-in product finish. A true Botanical Blowout finish is available with Adriana, our blowout specialist — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 AM, and Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3 PM, until 11 PM. The Botanical Blowout is a $70 add-on to any head spa — or $50 when added to the VIP Full Ritual (a $20 savings).
Is a head spa safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Our treatments are safe for pregnancy and a welcome way to relax. We use organic, vegan, non-toxic products free from harsh chemicals. Scalp massage can also help relieve tension headaches, stress, and circulation issues common in pregnancy. Share any specific concerns and we'll tailor the experience. As always, check with your healthcare provider before any new wellness treatments.
Can children receive a head spa treatment?
Yes — we welcome clients ages 5 to 15 for a relaxing head spa. It's a great way to introduce self-care, promote scalp health, and create a calm moment for kids and teens. A parent or guardian must be present in the suite. Reach out with any special requests and we'll customize accordingly.
Is head spa a good date night option in downtown St. Pete?
Yes — and it's the option most St. Pete date-night lists miss. Our duo head spa suite holds two people side by side. Head spa options run 30 to 120 minutes; most couples book the 60–90 minute service together and finish at the same time. We're open 7 days a week, 7 AM to 11 PM, which means we accommodate last-minute Saturday evenings most spas can't. Park in our 8-space lot and walk 1 minute across the street to Cappy's Pizza, Hawthorne Book & Bottle, or Mutts & Martinis after.
What should I wear to my head spa appointment?
Whatever is comfortable — we provide a cozy robe before your ritual begins, so no oils or products touch your clothing. Wear clothes you'll be happy to put back on, and come ready to unwind.
Is the head spa suitable for curly or coily hair?
Yes. Every ritual is customized to your hair texture and scalp condition — including type 3 and type 4 curls and coils. Your therapist selects products and techniques for your texture and scalp condition, and we finish with a rough dry (60–80%) or a simple braid, whichever suits your texture and plans for the day.
Can I get a head spa if I'm bald or have a buzzed head?
Absolutely. The ritual is scalp-first: the detoxifying cleanse, halo water therapy, cranial massage, and pressure-point work deliver their full benefit with no hair at all. Many clients with shaved heads tell us it's the most relaxing service they've ever booked.
Can I get a head spa with braids or locs?
Our ritual is built around direct scalp access — the cleanse, exfoliation, masks, and Tricho-Analyzer readings all work at skin level — so we aren't able to perform the treatment over braids or locs. The ideal time to visit is between installs, when your scalp is fully accessible. Questions about timing your visit? Text us at (727) 218-7045.
Do head spas help with hair loss or postpartum shedding?
A head spa supports the environment healthy hair grows from — deep cleansing, circulation-boosting cranial massage, and better product absorption. We can't treat medical hair loss and never promise regrowth; for postpartum or medical shedding, talk with your doctor first. What sets our ritual apart is how we use it: every full head spa opens and closes with a Tricho-Analyzer scalp reading at 50x, shown to you on screen so you see your scalp's actual condition and track real change across visits.
Can a head spa help with migraines or tension headaches?
Many clients book for exactly this. The extended cranial massage and pressure-point work are deeply relieving for tension held in the head, neck, and shoulders — and our quiet, low-light suites help. We don't treat medical conditions, so for chronic migraines check with your doctor. But as a reset for a tension-heavy week, it's hard to beat.
Are you hijab-friendly? How private is the treatment?
Fully. Our head spa team is all female, and every treatment happens in a fully private suite with a closing door. The head spa suites sit on the second floor of our 1920s home — away from the entrance and lobby entirely — and our couple's suite is private as well. If you'd like anything else arranged for your comfort, just tell us when you book.
Can I bring my own products for my treatment?
No — our therapists are trained specifically on our European, biodynamic, vegan product lines, and that training is how we guarantee consistency, safety, and results. If you have allergies or sensitivities, tell us when you book and your therapist will calibrate your product mix accordingly.
What if something feels uncomfortable during my treatment?
Say so, anytime — mid-ritual is exactly the right time. Pressure, water temperature, table warmth, and technique are all adjusted on the spot. The ritual is built around you, not a script.
Can I book a head spa if I have a medical condition?
Start with a call or text to (727) 218-7045 — tell us what you're navigating, and we'll guide you honestly on whether the ritual is right for you and how we'd adapt it. For active conditions or anything currently being treated, we'll ask you to have your doctor's clearance for the head spa before we book your session. We don't diagnose or treat medical conditions — but we're very good at taking care of the person who has one.
Is a head spa good for men?
Yes — the scalp cleanse, cranial massage, and pressure-point work suit everyone, and men book it often for stress, scalp health, and thinning concerns. Short hair or a bald head is no barrier. More here: Head Spa for Men + Beard Treatment.
Can I gift a head spa?
Yes — it's one of our most-loved gifts. Buy an e-gift card in any amount and let them choose their tier, or gift a specific service. Gift cards here.
Do you offer refunds?
Because our services are performed on you, they can't be returned once complete — so all services are non-refundable. Prepaid packages and session credits are likewise non-refundable and non-transferable, and are valid for one year from purchase. If anything about your visit isn't right, tell us before you leave and we'll make it right.
